Deukyoung Cha, PT, DPT
Deukyoung Cha, PT, DPT graduated from Yonsei University in Korea majoring in Physical Therapy in 1996. In the same year, he came to the University of Central Oklahoma to study Business Administration. After passing the national board for his physical therapy license in 1998, he moved to New York.
Dr. Cha has worked at Northern Rehabilitation Medicine as the head physical therapist for four years treating various types of orthopedic conditions. He entered Stony Brook University to enhance his knowledge and expertise in physical therapy, and earned his Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy in 2005. He has worked in different clinical settings including Woodhull Medical Center, NYC Department of Education, and outpatient physical therapy clinics.
Dr. Cha has gained expertise and excellence in orthopedic manual therapy by working as the clinical director at Best Physical Therapy. His experiences as clinical director became the seeds to form his own practice – CHA Physical Therapy.
Dr. Cha has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) since 2003 and dedicates his expertise in teaching physical therapy students in a clinical setting as an APTA credentialed Clinical Instructor.
Dr, Cha is one of few Schroth certified therapists in the U.S.
Joy HJ Jang, PT, PhD
Joy HJ Jang, PT, PhD is a pelvic health physical therapist who specialized in the treatment of female and male pelvic dysfunction and wellness. She graduated from the school of physical therapy in 2003 in South Korea. She later achieved her PhD in 2014 in Physical Therapy from the University of Daejeon in South Korea and completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship in Physical Therapy from University of Texas Medical Branch.
Joy has acquired experience in a variety of orthopedic cases such as acute or chronic patients with spine and joint dysfunction, post-operation and sports injury rehabilitation. Currently she is focused on learning of women’s and men’s pelvic health through specialists across the country. She built her practice, taking specialty courses incontinence, pelvic pain, pre-natal and postpartum musculoskeletal issues, male pelvic conditions, and pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse.
Joy is a certified orthopedic manual therapist in Korea and involved in teaching continuing education courses on manual therapy of pelvic girdle. She has published approximately 30 articles and presented the results of her research globally in areas such as therapeutic exercise programs for elderly women with age related hyperkyphosis, psychosocial factors related to neck pain, and pelvic floor muscle training in pregnancy women.
Joy is compassionate with her patient care. She is always committed to understand her patients’ difficulties fully in order to provide them with the best care possible. She believed that everyone’s pain is different, so our role is to provide the optimal environment for healing through science and art.
Joy is an international director of the Korean Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (KAOMPT, Interest Group of International Federation of Orthopedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT)) and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association's (APTA) section on Women's Health (SOWH).
